Program Model
Horizons students attend a six-week summer program on the campus of The Foote School, and receive additional support throughout the year. Our project-based educational model is designed to fuel a lifelong passion for learning, blending high-quality academics with cultural enrichment and confidence-building activities like swimming, arts, and sports. In small classes led by professional teachers, students dive into a rich curriculum with a focus on literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math).
Every Horizons program also includes swimming instruction, breakfast and lunch, field trips, recreation, arts, and an overall emphasis on family involvement.
All Horizons affiliates embrace this same educational philosophy and highly-customizable curriculum. We train teachers with the Horizons teaching philosophy and give them the freedom to create inspiring, energized classrooms. Every Horizons program is unique, yet they all share core elements.
Students
All Horizons students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and reflect the diversity of their local community. When they first come to Horizons, most students are performing below grade level.
Teaching
Horizons head teachers are paid professionals, from public schools, independent schools, and universities, all working together. Our small class sizes (with a 4:1 student to faculty ratio) and our student-centered approach to project-based learning brings our teachers, students, and families back year after year.
Program
Through an in-depth six-week summer program, with additional touch points throughout the year, Horizons students can experience the freedom of new ways of learning.
